William Pearl

Stevens Creek Shutter Company is owned and operated by William Pearl. William is a third generation window covering specialist. Following his Grandfather, Father and Uncle into the business. William got his start as a custom drapery track maker and installer in Hamilton at the renowned Artistic Drapery Ltd. Artistic was conveniently located steps away from the very first Tim Horton’s location in Canada on Ottawa Street in Hamilton. This created William’s affinity for a medium regular and a 10 pack of Timbits that continues to this day.

William’s father Bob Pearl worked his entire career on the road consulting with clients for Artistic Drapery after learning the trade from his father Jim who operated a small wood blind manufacturing business in Hamilton for many years. William’s Uncle John Pearl operated the Avon Window Shade company on the Hamilton Mountain until his retirement a few years ago as well. Artistic was a great place to learn, with many long time employees that considered the trade a true craft. From Agnes in the cutting room, Don on the sales floor, and Mickey installing there were many examples of true professionalism to follow. After spending his formative years learning the business step by step at Artistic William spent a number of years working with the environmental group Greenpeace. This brought about a move to Ottawa where William has made his home ever since the early 1990’s.

You may have known his work in the past with Pearl Custom Interiors, Riopelle Drapery and Design Studio, or Grimble’s Design Studio. Or maybe your memory is such that you remember William as a featured speaker at the Ottawa Home Show? After a 7 year hiatus where William worked in regional management for a major home improvement retailer, he is back to the industry that was his home for over 25 years. Past clients include, the Governor General’s, dozens of Embassies, The Federal Court, The Canadian Senate, and major institutions like the Queensway Carleton Hospital, Kelly’s funeral homes and many others. These organizations join hundreds of satisfied clients, many that continue to contact William looking for help with projects years later.
